Gotta Get a Gig!

“Get a gig, get a gig, I gotta get a gig!”

If you are an entertainer trying to find an audience, get paid, and share your passion with the world, you may have said those words.

I’ve been a professional magician since 1999, and even I occasionally still find myself thinking that exact thing. What I didn’t know when I decided to become an entertainer all those years ago is that finding people to hire you, and more importantly - pay you, is more business than art.

Even though I became an entertainer for the purest of reasons - to give people an escape from the real world through amazement, laughter, and fun - what I didn’t know about the business side of show business, hurt me.

I struggled for years trying…

#MotivationMonday - Transforming Fear Into Courage

Today is a big day! It’s #MotivationMonday!

In today’s video I answer the following question that was submitted to me…

“How can I transform the fear I have into courage to do what I know I need to do?”

As I thought deeply about this question it reminded me of an important moment from several years ago when I sat down with one of my mentors and heroes in the magic world. You see, my interest in performing these types of shows came to me from a very honest, organic place. Growing up as a child, into my teenage years, through my college years, and then into adulthood, my Grandfather on my Mom’s side was someone I had a very special bond with.

As I look back…

2019 Tour Starts Today

Well, technically my 2019 tour began on January 1 when I woke up in Curacao with the Magic All Stars. That tour lasted around two weeks and took us to Curacao, Honduras, Guantanamo Bay, and the Bahamas. We made a stop in Baltimore, too (but don’t ask, that’s a wild and crazy story.)

However, today is the first show in a six-week long tour that is scheduled to take me over 7,000 miles while I perform 24 shows…
